04 Feb Happy New Year and some Thank You’s
Hi everybody, and best wishes for this New Year.
We had a very successful exhibition in November last year, titled ‘Working from Home’, and hosted by Edmondson Hall, Solicitors, in Newmarket. I would like to thank all those who came and enjoyed the paintings on show. I also want to thank Mark Edmondson, and all at Edmondson Hall for allowing me to use their walls and space, and making the exhibition open to the public. They worked very hard to make it a success. We raised funds in excess of £1,000 this year, to be shared between Racing Welfare and The Injured Jockey Fund.
My own development as an artist has been noticeable I think. With the difficulties of the last two years, I have had to discipline myself to maintain a good work ethic, and to continue to improve my work, which I feel I have achieved. I had some very kind comments and feedback after the show, which makes me realise that others agree too.
The Gazeley art show in July 2020, in which I was pleased to exhibit, was well attended and well received . It raised several thousand pounds for church funds. This year, it is being staged in All Saints’ Church again on the August Bank Holiday weekend, 27-29th August, and I am now painting some new smaller pieces for the show, aiming to suit the show’s title: ’ The affordable Art Show’
I would like to thank everyone for the various commissions received this year, which kept me painting through the lockdowns, when there was nowhere for me or any artist to sell our work.
There were some challenges there, which I think I managed to overcome. I want to thank Mr Al Basti, and Michael O’Hagan, of Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai, for giving me the chance to paint the Gimcrack winner for them again. The painting was recently sent out to Qatar to Sheikh Joaan al Thani, the winning owner. Sarah, who owns and runs the upmarket dog hotel near Thetford, House of Mutt, has been a great client for dog portrait commissions, very grateful to her for the support.
I’d also like to say a special thank you to Julian Orme, our framer. He always manages to get the right frame for the painting, without input from me, and often squeezes us in at short notice when I am working to short deadlines. It is much appreciated.
A new year, and already the e-mails for future projects continue to come in. I’m looking forward to painting some new and hopefully wonderful new things.
Enjoy your lives, and thank you for all your support.
